Tank Warfare (2)

The next part of the discussion will start with WW2 and how it changed the way we saw the tank

WW2

Again WW2 wasn’t a time in which tanks made the most of cable ties and mil spec cables but it has to be the time where tanks were used to win battles rather than just as an extra. In fact without the tank it would be safe to say that WW2 would not have been the same war at all. This time period was very important for the tank as it developed rapidly and turned int a full weapon system.

Heinz Guderian who was a tactical theoretician actually stated before WW2 that “where tanks are, the front is” and this of course became reality during the course of WW2.

Adolf Hitler used tanks heavily in his very successful Blitzkrieg tactics. He made use of the combined arms of both tanks and infantry as well as in tank radios to gain advantages of forces that actually had better tanks than he did. Hitler used his idea to get a hold of France as well as Poland. It was Hitler that helped when it came to the allies looking to get more technology on the tanks. A major nation defeated in weeks shocked the world and this was the nudge that the Allies needed to start building better tanks.

Although there were actually many tanks during the course of the war, the most famous ones had to be the sherman, M4, T28 and the Tiger.

Tanks in WW2 were the cause of many, many deaths. It is impossible to tell just how many of the 56,125,262 people that were killed were killed from tanks but it is sure to be a very high number indeed.

When it came to the Cold War it was important on which nation had the most amount of tanks and they are of course used in todays battles. Some tanks even have their very own ac fans.
